On June 17, 2018, Father’s Day, Alfonso "Poncho" Rosales Trinidad at the age of 72, was called to the Glory of God. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his children, and grandchildren, at his loving home in Fontana CA.
He was born on March 7th 1946 in Momax, Zacatecas Mexico to Guadalupe Rosales and Maurilio Trinidad, the youngest of 9 children. Alfonso came to the United States in the late sixties seeking a better opportunity and the American Dream, and he found it. He met his wife Luz Paulina Urias and had 4 children. They bought their first home in Chino, California. Unfortunately she passed at the age of 53 in 2005. He always carried her in his heart and had great love for her.
con la luz del Espíritu Santo;
concédenos que, guiados por el mismo Espíritu
Sintamos con rectitude y
Gocemos siempre de tu consuelo.
Por Jesucristo Nuestro Señor.
Amén.
Alfonso was a very hard worker all his life and provided for his family by working in the manufacturing industry of appliances and later the car industry. He was a Teamster local 986 member for over 30 years.
He moved to Fontana and enjoyed planting fruit trees and vegetables. Our father also enjoyed cooking. He made the best chile salsas that would make your tongue burn and the most amazing chile con carne. Growing up, he loved playing baseball and immediately became a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his later years, after learning the game of football, he grew to enjoy watching the game. He was also an avid runner. You could find him jogging and walking about 10 miles down The Pacific Electric Trail from Sierra Ave. to the 15 fwy in Fontana every morning. He loved meeting people along the trail. He was always buying a new pair of running shoes every other month because he would wear them out. Alfonso also loved nature and he enjoyed watching wild animal programs in his free time. He enjoyed listening to Mariachi music.
Alfonso was a very humble man that lived a very simple life. He had a heart of gold and was very giving. His beautiful smile and warm eyes would make you feel very comfortable. He loved to converse with anyone he met. Mostly, he enjoyed visiting family, he loved visiting his children and his life revolved around them doing all that he could to help them. He was very proud of his six grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was to be able to see his two eldest grandchildren graduate from Azusa Pacific University and Cal Poly Pomona. Although he did not have an education passed elementary school, he felt coming to the US was the best decision he had made. He felt this decision had given his children and grandchildren better opportunities to succeed and they did!
Anyone who met Alfonso could feel and see that he was a very devoted Catholic and follower of Jesus Christ. He was a man of faith and never went a day without praying for others. He knew many prayers that he learned from his mother. He prayed the Rosary daily. He attended St. George Catholic Church in Fontana.
Alfonso will be missed by many and will always continue to be in our hearts. He was a great example of how Gods children should live. He was not selfish and very humble. He believed in God and Family. He asked that we would not shed tears but would lift our lives towards the Lord and honor him with Joy and Happiness that God gave him the opportunity to live a great life. He felt very Blessed. We Love You Father!
Alfonso is survived by his children, Alfonso and his wife Lucy Trinidad of Ontario, Jaime of Fontana, Eduardo and his wife Jessica of Fontana, and Melissa Trinidad of Goodyear Arizona.
