Charles Richardson Obituary

Charles Earl Richardson, affectionally known as "Chuck," went home to Jesus at La Posada Residential Home in San Bernardino, California, three days shy of his 72nd birthday. Born June 8, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, he was the fourth child of Rev. WD Richardson and Stella Mae Smith. The eldest brother,Walter Don Richardson, died in infancy. His parents, WD, Stella Mae, and stepfather, Claude Davis, Jr.,preceded him in death. Following a long commitment, Charles and Elvia united in marriage for over 30years. He was a loving stepfather to Elvia's young son, Porfirio Bueno, and in 1991, beloved Stella Marie was born. Stella bore them four grandchildren.

Until moving to Highland Hills in 1962, Chuck was raised in West Dallas and attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School. In 1963, the family moved to Santa Monica, California, then to Compton,California, in 1994, where he graduated from Willow brook Jr. High School, Centennial High School and attended Compton Jr. and Long Beach State Colleges. Charles's earliest work experience began with a paper route and assisting in the part-time maintenance business of stepfather, "Daddy Claude".." His adult employment history included K Mart in Los Angeles as Assistant Manager, in Arizona as Manager and Northrop-Grumman Maintenance.

Charles loved sports, playing with the fellas and watching the games. His favorite teams are the L. A. Dodgers, USC Trojans, L. A. Lakers, and the Dallas Cowboys. A passion for songwriting led him and his best friend, Pete, to study at Long Beach State. His favorite artists included Jerry Butler, James Brown, Impressions, and Four Tops. Charles loved pancakes and donuts, especially from Winchell's, and bike riding.

Charles loved his nieces and nephews. His most significant accomplishments were marriage to one wife and devotion to their family. His presence in the lives of his sister, nieces, and nephews will always gain him honor. The most significant and most memorable event occurred in his later life. While unknowingly struggling with Alzheimer's, the destroyer lays waste on every aspect of a person's mind and life. In 2019, Charles declared that he wanted nothing to do with God and Jesus, the God of his youth. Two weeks later, he accepted an invite to The Rock Church from his sister. Through preaching the Word, the Holy Spirit penetrated where mere words could not; Charles became a worshipper of Christ. He leaves to cherish his memories: Elvia Diaz-Osorio Richardson, wife, Stella Marie Richardson, daughter, grandchildren, Dominic Tyerell Tucker, Jr., 13, K'Loni Jae-Nikole Davis, age 10, Khiri Jasenia Davis, age 9, and Kevin Jaisaun Davis, age 4; brothers, Walter Grant Richardson and Anthony Wayne Davis; sisters, Deborah Coleman and Valarie Jean Harper (half); aunts, Bessie Jewel Taylor, Mary Louise Hollier; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
