Elvira Hernandez de Alburjas, 86, of Montclair, California passed away on September 6th, 2020 in Rancho Cucamonga, California. She was born on July 15th, 1934 in Manizales , Colombia to Abel Hernandez and Clementina Castaño.
Elvira met and married her love, Hernan Arizabaleta. She and Hernan would have two beautiful daughters together, Yolanda Denny Arizabaleta and Beatriz Traverso Arizabaleta. She would later marry Carlos Alburjas, whom she would share 40 wonderful years of marriage together until his tragic passing.
Elvira was well-educated as she attended Catholic school growing up and would move on to university. She was renowned for her awards granted from the city of Montclair for her cake decorating skills, as well as recognition from the YMCA. When she came to the United States, she worked as a seamstress and would eventually open her own business, owning and running a video shop.
Elvira loved horseback riding, and shared a special bond with her horse, Muñeca. She was an avid cake decorator, and a highly talented seamstress. In addition to these passions, she would teach catechism at Our Lady of Lords Church.
Elvira is survived by her two daughters, Yolanda and Beatriz. She is also survived by her two siblings, Miguel Hernandez and Gloria Hernandez. Elvira is survived by 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband, Hernan, as well as her second husband, Carlos. She is also predeceased by her parents, Abel and Clementina as well as her siblings Lilia Hernandez, Jorge Hernandez, Leticia Hernandez, Fabiola Hernandez, and Guillermo Hernandez.
