Joy Ann Wikoff, 76, of Ontario, California, passed away on June 11, 2018 in Fontana. She was born to John E. Newsham and Evelyn D. Young on May 7, 1942 in Monterey Park, CA. Joy was the oldest of 6 children. She was the generous big sister that they looked to for guidance.
Joy attended and graduated from Cal State University with her Bachelor’s degree. She worked 25 years for the Los Angeles County as a Deputy Public Guardian.
Joy attended the Adventist Church and found enjoyment in helping others. This is where she met her husband Jack who shared the same desire. It was on a mission to Nepal to build a medical clinic that Jack would plan to propose to Joy at the Taj Mahal. When unforeseen circumstances arose and cancelled their trip to India Jack proposed in Nepal. They were married on October 9th, 1994 and shared 23 happy years of marriage.
Joy lived her life honoring God by being a shining light. She lived a life of service. Serving others in her career in social services, in the church by helping the needy and in her family by taking care of her elderly parents. She always tried to do what was right and not what was easy. She put a lot of thought in to the things she said and did. She was always sending cards and special gifts to the people she loved. She had tremendous faith. Not even the pain and suffering of ALS could rock that. In fact, she says it brought her closer to God. In the end, Joy bravely faced death. She said, “I will go to sleep and Jesus will wake me up”. She was sure that some day our broken hearts would be mended and we will all be together again.
In memory of Joy, donations can be made to Amazing Facts or It Is Written.
Joy is survived by her husband Jack Lee Wikoff.
