Kathleen (Kathy) Binks, 79, of Fontana, passed away on May 3, 2018 in Fontana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springville, Utah on December 12, 1938 to George and Leona Wilson. Kathy attended Springville High School, home of the Red Devils, graduating in 1957.
Kathy met the love of her life, Joseph Dean Binks, in 1957. They were married on July 11, 1957 at the Manti Temple in Utah. Kathy and Dean enjoyed just over 60 years of marriage together. They raised their family of four children, Randy, Kalene, Kelly and MaryBeth who gave them their 10 grandkids and 15 great grandkids with one more on the way.
While raising their children, Kathy became actively involved in the PTA and her church. Kathy had a heart for helping others. She and Dean became mom and pop to well over 600 boys through the Ettie Lee Homes for Youth to which they dedicated the last 44 years.
Kathy was elected as a Fontana Unified School District Trustee. She served as a School Board Member for 25 years. In the early 1990’s Kathy co-founded with then Fontana Police Chief Ed Stout the Fontana Boys and Girls Club. Kathy served as an integral member of the Boys and Girls Club Board Directors until the time of her passing. She was an advocate for this cause, always raising funds and awareness. She dedicated time to fund raising efforts for the Relay for Life, American Cancer Society and the Red Cross. Kathy served alongside Dean in the Boy Scout Troop at North Tamarind Elementary. Faith and family has always been the core of Dean and Kathy’s marriage. Kathy loved her family and community. She gave so much of herself to so many. Kathy will be remembered for the beautiful person she was.
