Lily Sierra, 95, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at Rialto Post Acute HealthCenter.She was born as Harue Lilia Komatsu to Japanese parents Seisaku and Setsu in Panama City,Panama on Jan. 11, 1929, where she lived until her teens before she and her family weredisplaced to U.S. internment camps. Following internment, she was relocated to Japan througha prisoner of war exchange between the two countries.In Japan, Lily worked for the American government where she leveraged her clerical skills andproficiency in Spanish, English, and Japanese.During this time, she met Richard Sierra who was based in Japan while serving in the U.S. Navyduring the Korean conflict. The two were married in Japan and shortly after welcomed theirfirst child, Patsy.After her husband’s Naval Service, Lily moved to Colton, CA, before establishing deep roots inSouth Fontana, CA, where she raised five children and cared for many of her grandchildren.After her husband’s passing in 1982, Lily continued to lead an extraordinary and exemplary lifeleaving behind a legacy of profound courage, loyalty, love, and immense faith. She also had afun streak and enjoyed spending time with family, getting her hair done, shopping, and trips tothe casino.She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Cruz; sons Ernie, Richard Jr. (Dickie), Danny, and Carl; 21grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.A mass will be held at San Salvador Catholic Church in Colton, CA, on Oct. 23, 2024, at 11 amfollowed by internment at Hermosa Gardens Cemetery.
