Nellie “Nelo” Ramirez entered into rest on Monday, August 16th at her home in Fontana, CA. She was born in Upland, CA, grew up in Cucamonga, CA and was 77 years old. Nellie and Raul Ramirez were married for 58 years with two children and their spouses, Cecilia and her husband John and Raul Jr. and his wife Irma. She had two grandchildren, Rachel and Gabriela.
Nellie was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga and served in various ministries since 1968. She attended Chaffey Community College.
For employment, Nellie wore many hats within the education system and as a mother. She worked as an Instructional Assistant for Chaffey High School District at Valley View High school, a Bookkeeper for Chaffey High School District, a Personnel Assistant/Secretary for Kaiser Steel, a Librarian Student Assistant for Upland High School, an ASB Student Assistant for Upland High School, a Babysitter/Nanny for multiple families, and a Farm Worker in the Vineyards.
Listening to music and dancing was something that you would often find Nellie doing. Some of her favorite songs were “Dedicated to the One I Love” by The Shirelles, “Over the Mountain, Across the Sea” by Johnnie and Joe, “Just Because” by Lloyd Price, “Earth Angel” by The Penguins, and “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens. Her favorite Mariachi song was “Esta Tristeza Mia.” Besides music, some other hobbies of hers were reading The Bible and her favorite book You Gotta Keep Dancin’, playing the guitar, gardening, tending her house plants, cooking, and scrapbooking.
In addition to her parents, Josephina and Augustine; she was preceded in death by her step father, Magdaleno “Meleno”, and all of her siblings, Jesus “Chuey”, Isabel “Chavela”, Julia “Julie”, Juan “Lanas”, and Emilia “Millie”.
