Richard (Dick) Donald Joye, 84 years old, of Ontario, passed away on December 5, 2019 at home. He was born to Daniel and Anna Belle Joye on November 3, 1935 in Fontana.
Dick graduated high school and went on to college however a love for his country drew him to join the service. Dick enlisted in the United States Airforce and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He later went on to receive RTA awards. Dick received many accolades throughout his life, including the National Defense Service Star, Army Awards (New Jersey, Fort Dix), Longevity Service Award, Air Force Award Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal Service Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal.
Dick was part of Future Farmers of America in his youth. He enjoyed fishing and collecting various things that caught his eye. He supported the NRA and was a proud Republican. Dick gave 20 years of service to his country and went on to support Veteran Affairs and VFW. He was also a member of Wounded Warriors.
In his spare time, Dick enjoyed the company around a Poker or Black-Jack table. He enjoyed playing Keno and Bingo with a Double Bloody Mary’s Tall and Bud Light Beer.
Dick is survived by his eldest daughter Kathleen Justice and her husband Frederick; their children Joseph Justice, Christina Justice-Mendieta, Yaro Justice-Mendieta, Daniel Justice and Angelica Justice; and their children Kathleen Olivia Marie Mendieta, Audrey Justice, Justin Justice and Emma Grace Justice. He is also survived by his second eldest daughter Darcy Buch; her children Kayla Buch and Kelsey Buch. Dick is also survived by his third daughter Julie Henley; her children Sondra Cook, Corey Joye and Eliah Joye; their children Constance Cook, Gage Cook, Aryanna Cook, Karlee Joye, Jacob Joye, Andrew Joye, and Mason Joye. He is survived by his son Richie's children Michael L. Yarbough-Joye, Sasha Yarbough, Amanda Rivera and her husband Hector Rivera, Sgt Dillon Joye and Ashley Joye; and their children Julian Rivera and Emersen Yarbough.
Dick is preceded in death by his son Richie Joye.
A graveside service with military honors will be 1:15 pm, Monday, December 23, 2019 at Riverside National Cemetery.
