Richard Jarvis Ruffus

Richard Jarvis Ruffus, affectionately known to many as “Bull”, passed away on September 25,2024, in Apple Valley, California. Born on February 27, 1951, in Mississippi, Richard grew up with a sense of adventure and a love for family that would carry throughout his life. A dedicated Truck Driver, Richard provided for his family with hard work and commitment, earning within his profession. He graduated high school and was drafted into the Army, showcasing his dedication to service and sacrifice. His life was marked by a blend of Industriousness and joy, particularly in moments spent with loved ones. 

Richard’s vibrant personality shone through in his many hobbies and interests. He cherished fishing trips, engaging games of dominoes and chess, occasional trips to the Casino, as well as the simple pleasure of dancing and singing. Family vacations were especially dear to him, as they allowed him to create lasting memories with those he loved most. 

He leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Ruby Denise Ruffus, daughters Shirlee Nicole Ruffus and Ashley Anne Ruffus, and a special nephew/son Anthony White Jr. Richard also treasured his relationships with his siblings, sisters Willie Mae Knox, Debra Bradshaw, Sandra Bradshaw and brothers Willie Jay Ruffus, Johnny Travis Ruffus, Jerry Bradshaw and Vester Bradshaw. He was a proud grandfather to LaNaya Lyles and fiancé Kobey McFee, Daleesa Sharp and Jaxon B. Howard. As well as three bonus grandchildren William, Maiya and Layla White. All of whom brought tremendous joy to his life. A brother-in-law Deleon Fair Sr., Sister-in-laws Delisa Walker, Lori Ruffus, Angela White, Valerie Godbolt, Rainelle Godbolt, Drachelle Eaton, Vanessa Fair, Johnetta O’Neal and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved son Tommie Deion Ruffus, parents Willie B. and Annie Ruffus, sister Patricia Ann James, and brothers Willie Jr. and Carl Bradshaw, as well as his second Mother Maggie Rupert.
