Robert Mc Andrew

April 9, 1949 — June 22, 2021

Robert Francis McAndrew, loving known as Bob to some and Rob to others, was born on April 9th, 1949. He was the oldest of three boys born to Georgette Fournier, his birth mother, who passed away much too young. At the tender age of six Bob and his two younger brothers, Richard and George were adopted into the McAndrew Family by his Aunt Muguette (Mickey) and her husband Richard, who raised them to adulthood. At the tender age of 18, Bob joined the United States Air Force serving two tours in the Vietnam War. During this time Bob obtained numerous medals, and honors including the Bronze Star, Air Force Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Bob McAndrew loved his country and was very proud to be an American. His commitment and dedication to the US Armed Forces was proven time and time again through his many volunteer hours for the VFW. In the 1990’s Bob served as district commander on multiple occasions including the Rancho Cucamonga Post 8680 and continued on to serve honorably on the VFW state legislature for many years. Prior to his passing, Bob was a proud member of the VFW Phalen post. In addition to serving his country, Bob also loved serving others and dedicated his life to doing so. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob sought a college education, attending The University of California Riverside, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in American History and his teaching credential. Bob taught 5 years at Gary Highschool in Pomona and spent the next 25 years teaching history at Alder Middle school in Fontana. While teaching, Bob also established the California Cadet Core, where he taught military science and lovingly mentored and guided many youths throughout his career. After retirement, Bob continued to serve his community by providing tutoring services to kids in need and volunteering for LAPD. It was at a party that Bob met Juanita Smith. They married in 1978 and had two beautiful sons, Jason and Ryan, whom they raised together until her passing in 1997. It was later in life that GOD brought Renee Ifum into Bob’s life. They met at a house party and married June 30th, 2007. Renee and Bob were inseparable. When you saw Bob, you knew Renee had to be close behind and vice versa. They did everything together and enjoyed their life to the fullest. Bob and Renee quickly became world travelers and were known for their many trips abroad, visiting places such as British Isles, Russia, and Scandinavian countries to name a few. Bob loved to travel, and you know what, he loved talking about his travels equally as much, as I am sure many of you know. Bob is his survived by his wonderful wife Renee Ifum, his two sons (Jason and Ryan McAndrew), his two beautiful grandchildren (11yr old twins - Aidan Carter McAndrew and Jaxon Juanita McAndrew), his stepson (Ubong Ifum), his brothers (Richard McAndrew and George McAndrew), his three sisters (Corinne, Joan, and Sheila), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Robert (Bob) McAndrew was a brave man and a kind soul. His physical body may no longer be with us, but his spirit will live on in all of those he touched during his time here on Earth. Bob, will be greatly missed, loved always, and forever remembered. Robert Francis McAndrew, loving known as Bob to some and Rob to others, was born on April 9th, 1949.
