William Jones Jr. (aka Bill) was born August 12, 1928 in Monticello, Arkansas to William Sr. and Hattie Mae Diggs which preceded him in death.
William Jones Jr. graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1945. He joined the United States Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949. After his military service, he gained employment with a trucking company. He also worked as a supervisor for a janitorial service and a manager for an Apartment Complex.
On April 17, 1998, Bill was joined in Holy Matrimony to his wife Ida Mae Jones.
Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member at New Exodus Baptist Church where he became a Deacon. Later he reunited at Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing in the mens choir, listening to his gospel music, gardening, reading the Holy Bible and playing with his great grandchildren.
Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Ida Jones; children Claude “Michael” D. Jones, Sandra Kent, Corliss Lamette, Gwendolyn Seaman, Johnetta Moore Jones and William Jones III; two step daughters Diane Patton and Sharyn Patton. He is also survived by his brother Herbert Jones; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
